Organisational Design
The most remarkable development in the printing industry during the last 10 years is the new direction toward a conscious effort in trying to understand people. Professional Managers have to be sensitive and demonstrate excellent people skills.

They need to be aware of issues, skills and tools that will enable them to bring forth any production improvements in the future. There are four underlying criteria for a successful printing production.

The first is QUALITY, good quality is needed to satisfy advertisers, readers as well as editorial and ownership demands. The second is TIME, to be on time with all our time sensitive processes, to be able to adjust production modes to the ever-changing production demands without being late. The third is COST. Cost control or cost management will ultimately make the industry viable for generations to come. If a Newspaper adventures into renewing the production facility, it is confronted with a 20 -year investment and a number of variables. Cost management ultimately secures that Newspapers are as profitable as any business may be. The last and fourth criterion is SUSTAINABILITY. Printing facilities need to sustain all their production and business ventures to survive in a world of competition, acquisition and new media distribution.

This is where Eurografica can make a difference, by guiding the exciting new development that management finally has discovered, realising that it needs a different organisation in order to achieve Quality, Time, Cost and Sustainability. It is imperative to assess the organisational culture and develop a new vision. There can only be a successful turnaround of the business if the underlying people's attitude and behaviour, their current and future skills, their ability to take on responsibility and be accountable for the outcome is embedded deeply from the beginning of the project. Only by exploring these almost philosophical questions will any project result in a visionary new definition of the organisation, where equipment, architecture and production are in harmony with the ultimate goal of the organisation, to be profitable for a long time to come.
